“This is a student-concept for a Sheridan Pilon School of Business Digital Marketing Course”
Nike already has a pretty big following on social media but the fact that they only post a few times a month leaves a lot of room for improvement. They are not the most frequent presence on social media. The company doesn’t post often but when it does, you can tell that their main focuses are simplicity and innovation. It is no secret that Nike loves to collaborate with other athletes and companies to deliver the best product possible. My content idea involves a couple of things. First, Nike should collaborate with Pantone. Pantone is a paint company that releases the colour of the year at the end of every year. A lot of people refer to the Colour of the Year when it comes to clothing design and Nike should follow suit. If they transformed an already loved shoe design into a shoe made in a stunning colour, they can’t go wrong. This year, Pantone’s Colour of the Year is Greenery (pictured right). A shoe made in a solid state of this colour would be beautiful. To introduce this, and to strengthen their presence on social media, Nike should create a countdown leading up to a release of the collaboration. The countdown could be posting something every day for 30 days to create a bigger audience. The posts could be clues leading up to what the new product could be. Whether it just be colour swatches or different shoe designs they plan on revamping. The goal is to create enough engagement and enough buzz surrounding the release to really make an impact on sales. We want people talking, we want people counting down the days until the end of that month. The launch would have to line up with when Pantone actually releases their colour of the year in mid December. The 30 days would start as soon as the colour is released. A countdown like this would work best on Twitter. The idea is just a quick glimpse or clue as to what the new product would actually be. Twitter is good for those quick little thoughts to convey a message.
